MRI in Practice | The Course
MRI in Practice is now the longest continously-running MRI course outside of the USA. In terms of numbers of delegates who attend each year, it is also probably the biggest MRI course in the World.

Target Audience:
The main target audience of this course are radiographers who wish to learn the underpinning principles of magnetic resonance imaging; perhaps with a view to protocol optimisation or as a stepping stone to a higher education award.
We also welcome technicians, radiography nurses ( e.g. in other european countries) engineers, veterinary surgeons and veterinary radiographers. The content of the course is non-clinical, but may be of interest to radiologists who are new to the field. Please join our on-line community for pre-course networking opportunities.

Duration: 4 days

Why Choose MRI in Practice?
We are very aware that you have a choice when it comes to CPD and MRI training. If you are a manager, you will want to make a clear evidence-based decision on which course is best for your staff training needs, and your budget. If you are a radiographer, looking to fulfil CPD requirements, or wish to learn the underpinning principles of MRI in a format that is applied to your day-to-day work, then please consider the following points. We are confident that our course ticks all the boxes!

The Course: MRI in Practice has been running continuously for 18 years (formerly known as the Oxford MRI Course) and is taught in 14 countries across 5 continents.
We have presented in mainland Europe for over five years, Australia for six years and our first American courses were over ten years ago.
We engage and educate hundreds of delegates per year, and their feedback sheets consistently rate our lectures as excellent. Unlike many other MRI courses, MRI in Practice is completely independent of any private company or institution. This is most important, because we can guarantee that our delivery is unbiased and we are free to say what we want to say. In the UK, any profits made by the course, go to the good causes of our partner-charity Cobalt UK - not into the coffers of a private medical company.

The Content: MRI in Practice - The Course is based on the the World’s best selling MRI book* - MRI in Practice, now approaching its 4th major edition, is consistently at the top of its league on Amazon.com and attracts a perfect five stars from public reviews. It outsells its next closest rival (Handbook of MRI Technique) many times over (in case you wondered - that book is also one of ours!)
MRI in Practice is famed as the reference text for practitioners taking the US registry exam - so you can rest assured that our course content is tried, trusted and relevant. You don’t have to take our word for it though - MRI in Practice has been accredited/endorsed by:

The UK College of Radiographers (CPD NOW),
The British Institute of Radiology,
Trinity College Dublin,
The Australian Institute of Radiology,
The European Federation of Radiographic Societies (EFRS)
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists
The Society of Radiological Technicians and Nuclear Medicine Technicians of Serbia.
The University of Sharjah (Emirates),
The University of Malta
The Romanian Radiology Society/College of Physicians,
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists

we do not believe that any other MRI course in the World has so many affiliations, and we are very proud to have the support and accreditation from these institutions.

The Presentation: MRI in Practice - The Course has evolved over the years, always taking advantage of the very latest technology. We were using data projection before anyone else (as long ago as 1997), and our computer graphics have also developed in line with broadcast production values. Having taken advice from experts in the cinema and TV industries, the latest version of the course utilises over 300 computer generated imagery models, rendered into photo-realistic HD. The lectures are screened using state-of-the-art presentation software and hardware over a bright, sharp data-projector. Delegates repeatedly tell us that our 3D imagery brings difficult concepts to life in a way that a conventional book can never achieve - but to give you the best of both worlds, we will give you a free copy of MRI in Practice** as your "course notes".

The Presenters: Some courses rely on the good-will of amateur external speakers but MRI in Practice is always presented by authors Catherine Westbrook and John Talbot.
We firmly believe that radiographers should be taught by radiographers; it seems obvious, we speak the same language, and can apply the basic principles to the real world of scanning and patient care.
Of course, the presenters must know their subject, Cathy and John are both clinical MRI specialists, but are also both educated in MRI to masters level.
It doesn’t stop there. We also believe that credible course presenters should be qualified in teaching and learning - after all that is what they do! As academics, Cathy and John have post-graduate qualifications in teaching and learning, and are both Fellows of the Higher Education Academy. The HEA vision is for students in UK higher education to enjoy the highest quality learning experience in the world and we bring that philosophy to everything we do - including MRI in Practice - The Course.

CPD Now Accreditation
MRI in Practice is CPD accredited by the College of Radiographers.
The Certificate of Endorsement states that this course is:

May support outcomes:

01 – Practical skills
02 – Add to Knowledge base
03 – Work safely
06 – Manage knowledge and information
07 – Contribute to quality healthcare/education services
