This intensive, but informal study-day, is delivered by experienced clinical lecturers Catherine Westbrook and John Talbot and is aimed primarily at individuals who have an interest or perhaps an auxiliary role in the field of medical imaging or healthcare provision.
Delegates are typically non-clinical personnel who would benefit from a theoretical understanding of how, when and why medical imaging is utilised. Previous courses have proven popular with radiographic or healthcare assistants, administrators, marketing managers, sales team members and literally anyone who has an interest in how medical imaging works, and the underlying anatomy and pathology that can be visualised using modern imaging equipment.
This concept is based on the belief that a deeper understanding of the underpinning concepts of medical imaging, empowers staff to do their job more efficiently, effectively and enjoyably. Of course for new members of staff, the benefits are immense, allowing them to pick up in one day, information that would otherwise have taken months, if not years of experience.
The course also forms a perfect resource for continuing professional development and in the past has been used by some delegates as a step up to a formal award, such as the Diploma of Higher Education in Medical Imaging. John and Cathy will be happy to advise delegates on their higher education options on the day, and can provide guidance and information about the courses currently available.
The programme is logically divided into seven lectures. Each short session takes an anatomical system and explores how modern imaging modalities are used to demonstrate pathologies or injuries that are common to the area under scrutiny.
